If you are having problems with your podcast...

If you are having trouble getting your podcast to work, here are some ways to troubleshoot:

1. Make sure that your new feed (i.e. the RSS feed you burned in FeedBurner) is enabled in Blogger. To do this:
a. Go to the Settings tab in your blog.
b. Click on the link for Site Feed.
c. Go to "Post Feed Redirect URL"box and enter the URL for the RSS feed you burned in FeedBurner. Click on Save Settings button.
This will then allow for the podcast to be syndicated.

2. Another possibility is the filename for your MP3. Double-check the filename and make sure that your MP3 has the same filename in your \\main directory and in the link field when you post it to the blog.

3. Make sure that your URLs are all correct -- that there are colons where colons need to be, that your filename is the same as your file in the \\main directory, and that all URLs are the same (i.e. same URL in the "Link" box underneath the Title box in the blog post AND in the enclosure link below).

If you are still having trouble, please come see me. Just email me or stop by the Reference Desk and ask for Kate.

NEW and Improved instructions for booking Media Studio 222

My apologies to all students who have been trying to book Media Studio 222 in Milne Library for recording their podcasts. EMS (Geneseo's calendaring system) was upgraded last week and our original URL for reserving the room was broken.
Here are the new instructions for reserving this room (it is called Milne 222 in EMS):

NEW INSTRUCTIONS FOR RESERVING MEDIA STUDIO 222 (Milne 222):
1. Go to Geneseo's Virtual Events Calendar at http://ems.geneseo.edu
2. Click on "Browse" in the top menu bar.
3. Choose "Browse for Space", then find "Milne Library" as your Building. Leave Room Type as "all".
4. Next, choose the date you want under "Filter Options" and click on Search.
5. Available spaces in Milne 222 will be blank; spaces filled up/already reserved will be in orange/peach (may look reddish).
6. Next, students should go to "Reservations" on the top menu bar and choose "Room Request".
7. Select the date and time you want to reserve the room. Next, choose Milne under "Building" and leave Room Type as "all".
8. Next, enter the # of people attending (must be at least 1). Click search.
9. The next screen will show you the available rooms (in this case, it should only show Milne 222). Check the box next to the available room and click "Continue".
10. Next screen, verify room information and click "Continue".
11. Next, type in an event name; I would suggest entering "Podcasting - LastName". When it asks you to enter a "Sponsor", click on Find and type in "Milne Library". Then use the > arrow to move it over to the right box, then click on the link for "Back to Checkout". For a 1st (or 2nd) contact, you can select from the drop-down menu and choose my name (Kate Pitcher). Click on "Submit".
12. The next screen shows your confirmed reservation.
Your reservation will show up on the plasma screen next to Media Studio 222 on the day of the reservation. Students will still need to go to the Circulation Desk and ask for a key to use the room. Please make sure to shut the door and lock behind you when you leave. Thanks! Any questions, please contact me (pitcher@geneseo.edu).

One way to post audio to your blog is to create posts by phone. To do this, use a tool such as Gabcast, which will post your audio automatically to your blog.
  1. Go to http://www.gabcast.com and create an account.
  2. Create a channel and set up preferences for your channel.
  3. After you create your channel, you can "edit channel". This is where you will scroll down to "Add New Blog" and be able to post your Gabcast audio to your blog.
  4. Call the toll-free number listed (1-800-749-0632).
  5. Enter the password and channel number you created when you set up your channel in step #2.
  6. Start recording!
  7. Follow the instructions to playback your audio and/or to publish your recording.
  8. Audio posts will automatically be posted to your blog!
